About The Center

Beşiktaş Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi

Besiktas Science and Art Center is a public school for gifted students. The center provides support education for 1083 students. Besiktas Science and Art Center was established in 2011 by the Ministry of National Education of Turkey. The aim is to ensure that gifted and talented students will grow as a creative and problem solving individuals and combine the scientific thoughts and behaviors with aesthetical values, at the same time they are trained to learn opportunities in real life with special education activities.

The students participate in the activities of the center in shifts that fall in to out of school time. The activities start at 3 o'clock and finish at 7 o'clock during the week. At the weekend the activities start at 9 o'clock in the morning and finish at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

The center has 14 classrooms. 29 teachers and 1083 students. It provides the students with supporting education, noticing individual skills education, developing special skills education and project creation education

Disciplines

In the center the disciplines are divided into three groups

1.      General Cognitive Skills

2.      Music

3.      Visual Arts

Orientation

This period lasts six weeks and in this period students learn social skills like having self-confidence, self-introduction, conversation, asking the questions, overcoming the anger and acting in harmony with each other, developing team spirit and sense of leadership etc.

Supporting Education

In this period the students are trained in different modules and interdisciplinary areas like communication skills, research techniques, scientific operation methods, problem solution techniques, computer, foreign language, group work techniques.

Noticing Individual Skills

In this program, students are directed to the disciplines or modules that they are interested in for their individual differences. The objection of this period is to provide a development opportunity to the students in a unique manner in any skills area

Developing Special Skills

The objective of this program is to ensure that students gain deep and advanced level of knowledge skill and attitude and behavior in any discipline

Project Creation

In this program students utilize their creativities and skills to generate new thoughts, technical inventions and modern suggestions for the requirements and problems of various business field.

Visual Art and Music

Visual Art Department is the place where activities for developing visual and spatial skills of the students are planned and performed. Studies in areas such as graphical designation, sculpture, ceramics, cartoon drawing, stained glass unique printing are planned and programs individualized according to the interest and skills of the students are applied.

Music Department is the place where activities for self-expressing with music, noticing their own audial perceptions and developing their music skills are planned and performed for the students.
